All of the framework we produce is made from kiln dried American Ash. Ultimately, our goal is to be able to supply Ash framing for all common variants of the Seven "off the shelf". Using original cars and components we have spent a lot of time researching and prototyping and now carry patterns for almost all of the Austin factory models. As a result, the frames we manufacture are true to the original designs, and are intended to be fitted without much modification (though in our experience every Seven we've encountered is different to some tiny degree!). Customer feedback has helped us refine our products over time too, so we're confident we're getting it right.
As well as the structural elements, we can also supply interior wooden trim for the Seven, such as door cards and seat components. Generally we send framwork out as a kit for the customer to assemble but we can also fit the framework ourselves at an additional labour cost. Be aware that framework fitting often causes damage to paintwork, so plan to do the reframing before the respray!
Whilst the "off the shelf" parts are our bread and butter, we are available for commission on custom coachbuilding projects and would be happy to discuss with you what it is you're looking for. Whether it's a car of another marque, a unique special or something else we can help.
Finally-why should you consider replacement framing? It's important to remember that the Ash framing in vintage cars is a key structural component. If there's rot and/or woodworm in the visible places, it's probably present in the places you can't see as well. Aside from structural concerns, this will make trim harder to fit and will ultimately lead to trouble in the future. As a result of this, we do not recommend splicing framing either.
